How to: Search for a file from within a currently open folder in Explorer.
Solution:
Open Windows Explorer. Select the 'Tools' menu, select 'Find', and select 'Files or Folders...'. Search for the file via the filename, date modified, or text that is contained in the file.
1) Open Windows Explorer.

2) In the left pane, select the drive and/or folder you want to search in.
3) Select the 'Tools' menu, select 'Find', and select 'Files or Folders...'. (The 'Find: All Files' dialog box appears, with the folder opened in step 2) already in the 'Look in' box.)

4) (Optional) To change the drive or folder to search in, select one from the 'Look in' drop-down list box.
5) Select the 'Include subfolders' check box.

6) Do one of the following, depending on what you already know about the file you are looking for:
a) If the filename is known, type it in the 'Named' drop-down list box.

b) If the date the file was modified is known, and the filename is NOT known:
1] Click the 'Date Modified' tab.
2] Do one of the following:
a] Select the 'All files' radio button, to search for all files that match any information on other tabs, regardless of when the file was modified.

b] Select the 'Find all files created or modified' radio button to find all files that were created or modified during a specific time period.
c] Do one of the following to specify the time period to find the file(s):
c) If a certain piece of text inside the file is known, and the filename and date modified or created are not known:
1] Click the 'Advanced' tab.
2] Select the appropriate file type from the 'Of type' drop-down list box.
NOTE: If the file type is not known, select 'All Files and Folders' from the 'Of type' drop-down list box.
3] Type the text to search on, in the 'Containing text' box.

d) If you have an idea of the size of the file:
1] Click the 'Advanced' tab.
2] Select either 'At least' or 'Almost' from the 'Size is' drop-down list box.
3] Type a value in the 'KB' box.
7) Click 'Find Now'.
